LANSING, MI — Governor Gretchen Whitmer is announcing grants for teachers that worked extra because of the COVID-19 pandemic during the last school year.
The state budget had 73-million-dollars for 500-dollar grants to teachers and support staff and 250-dollar grants to non-instructional staff. To be eligible for the grants, individuals had to work at least 75 percent of their time inside a school building prior to closing for the pandemic.
Teaching assistants and even office staff are able to apply for the grants. However, substitute teachers and cyberschool teachers are not eligible.
