LANSING, MI — Lansing’s oldest charity – with our roots going back to 1910 – will be selling copies of the Lansing Spoof Journal on Dec. 1.
The Old Newsboys raises money to provide shoes, boots, and socks to school-aged children around Lansing and school districts within a 25-mile radius. Volunteers will be on street corners around town Thursday. It’s the group’s first year back in person since 2019 because of Covid.
“We are nervous we lost a lot of recognition, especially with the younger generations,” the group said in a press release.
On average, the Old Newsboys raise approximately $180,000 each year, which starts in September and serves 7,000+ kids with shoes and boots. Half of that total comes from their annual sales day, which is always the first Thursday in December, according to the group.
