JACKSON, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The solar eclipse next week is a big deal, but will it affect solar power in Michigan? Brian Wheeler, of Consumers Energy, thinks it’ll be just fine.
Right now, Wheeler says there are solar power plants in Cadillac and at Grand Valley State University and Western Michigan University.
He says another project has just been announced in Muskegon.
Wheeler says less than 10% of energy comes from solar in Michigan now, but by 2040, he expects 90% of sources will be clean energy.
