LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Bipartisan bills have been reintroduced in the state House to ban “deepfake” pornography.
Republican Representative Matthew Bierlein of Vassar and Democratic Representative Penelope Tsernoglou of East Lansing have introduced the package of bills.
The bills received near-unanimous support in the state House last session, but did not come to a vote in the state Senate.
The creation and distribution of media falsely portraying someone identifiable in a sexual manner without their consent would become a crime in Michigan, punishable by up to three years in prison.
