LANSING, MI — The Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget says it is already looking for the next Christmas tree that will stand on the Capitol grounds in downtown Lansing for the upcoming 2025 holiday season this fall.
The 39 year tradition of the state’s Capitol tree coming from across the state will continue. Trees have been selected from backyards, public lands and forests. Last year’s 60-foot tree was donated by Rich and Dorcas Albertson from Clinton County.
However, any tree that is selected must meet certain criteria. Tree must be Spruce or fir, at least 60-feet tall with a maximum crown of 24-feet and maximum trunk diameter of 30-inches. There must also be easy access to a road, with no interference from wires, for harvesting purposes.
The deadline for nominations is Aug. 18, according to a press release. To submit a nomination, email your name, phone number, photo of the tree and information about its size and location to christmastree@michigan.gov.
