LANSING, MI — Media partner 6 New WLNS in Lansing says the Gillespie Group, a residential and commercial real estate firm based in Lansing, is planning to acquire the soon-to-be former space of the Lansing City Rescue Mission on Michigan Ave in downtown Lansing.
The Lansing City Rescue Mission will eventually relocate to a new location on W Kalamazoo Street as part of a $10 million renovation project, making it the largest shelter for adults in Michigan.
Lansing City Rescue Mission Director Mark Criss told 6 News that the new building has more individual showering spaces, which will allow them to house transgender individuals or those with fluid gender identity more easily.
Pat Gillespie, Founder and CEO of Gillespie Group, said in a news release that the developer is looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to the success of the City Rescue Mission’s move to their new location to expand their services, bed count, and resources to further serve our community.
