EAST LANSING, MI — Michigan State University students, fans and alumni can donate blood this fall to show their school spirit. MSU is joining forces with the Big Ten Conference for the second annual “We Give Blood” drive competition, uniting to help tackle one of the nation’s most urgent health challenges. The competition aims to encourage a new generation of blood donors, and while saving thousands of lives along the way.
To participate in the competition, those eligible can donate anytime between Aug. 27-Dec. 5 at blood drives or blood centers across Michigan and designate their for for MSU.
This year’s competition brings even more chances for MSU to ignite school spirit and inspire first time donors, according to a press release. People who show up to donate and log their donation during the competition can receive an exclusive, limited-edition MSU T-shirt designed by Homefield.
“Donating blood is a powerful way Spartans can stand together,” said J Batt, Michigan State Vice President and Director of Athletics. “Every blood donation can save up to three lives, but we need more people to donate. It’s a simple act that carries incredible power. Let’s show the world that Spartans are built for moments like this.”
