LANSING, MI — The City Rescue Mission of Lansing this week opened its new Single Adult Shelter (SAS) at 415 W. Kalamazoo St., officially beginning operations on Tuesday.
The new facility will now house the Mission’s men’s shelter services, previously located on Michigan Avenue, as well as the Outreach Drop-in Center. According to a press release, the move reflects the Mission’s commitment to serving those experiencing homelessness in the Lansing community by providing safe shelter, meals, and hope in a centralized location.
“I am excited to see the first phase complete and enabling the Mission to serve more people,” said Mark Criss, Executive Director of City Rescue Mission of Lansing. “I believe that this project will be ‘just in time’ when it comes to the growing number of people that need assistance in our area. We are excited to provide a quality place that glorifies God and reflects how the people in our community care about those we serve.”
As part of the transition, the Mission’s donation center is temporarily closed to allow for necessary renovations. The center is expected to reopen for community contributions by mid-September 2025. In the meantime, supporters are encouraged to check the Mission’s website for the latest updates on donation needs and reopening details.
