LANSING, MI — The Historical Society of Greater Lansing will celebrate the grand opening of its first permanent location with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 16, on the campus of Lansing Community College.
The Society will now call the historic Rogers-Carrier House, located at 528 N. Capitol Ave. on LCC’s campus, its new home, according to a press release.
“This dynamic partnership with Lansing Community College comes with a commitment to engage students in learning history.” said Bill Castanier, president of the Historical Society of Greater Lansing.
The Rogers-Carrier House has already begun to host regular monthly programs, events, and walking tours over the last few months. It’s first exhibit, “50 Objects that Say Lansing,” opens at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 20, highlighting artifacts and stories that capture the Capital City’s history. Limited weekend hours will also begin this fall. The Historical Society will also soon begin to hold limited weekend hours.
