LANSING, MI — State officials have chosen the tree that will be lit in front of the State Capitol this year. It’s coming from Sault Ste. Marie. Tree owner Linda Reid donated the 68-foot blue spruce in honor of her grandparents, Lawrence and Nettie Richey.
The majestic tree is expected to be harvested later this month and then arrive in Lansing on or around Nov. 1. Then crews from Lansing BWL will hang Christmas lights on it.
The fully adorned tree will be lit as part of the Silver Bells in the City festivities in downtown Lansing on Friday night Nov. 21, following the Electric Light Parade.
