LANSING, MI — Earth Day 2025 is set for Tuesday April 22. Earth Day started in the 1970s and is known as a day of environmental action.
Across mid-Michigan, Harris Nature Center in Okemos and Fenner Nature Center in Lansing both held festivities this past weekend. They invite mid-Michigan to celebrate the outdoors this week by planting trees and shrubs, recycling materials, shopping at a local farmers market, cleaning up a local park or starting a compost pile.
Fenner Nature Center is in Lansing on Mt. Hope and has 134 acres of forests, wetlands, and over 4 miles of trails. The park has 134 acres of rolling glacial esker, towering maple groves and native prairie ecosystems and a universally inclusive Visitor Center.
The Harris Nature Center is on Van Atta Road in Okemos and has miles of walking trails and 200 acres of forest and meadows. The nature center is nestled along the banks of the Red Cedar River and is open dawn to dusk.
Another option is Woldumar Nature Center in Lansing.
