LANSING, MI — Ten teachers across Michigan who have been named Regional Teachers of the Year, including two Lansing area teachers. The 10 become finalists for Michigan’s Teacher of the Year award, according to a press release.
Amanda Bush, an elementary teacher at Dansville Elementary and Erica Gorzen, a visual arts teacher at Portland High School are the two local teachers recognized as Regional Teachers of the Year.
“Putting Students First means having outstanding teachers to support all learners,” state Superintendent Glenn Maleyko said. “The Regional Teachers of the Year exemplify the outstanding work done by educators throughout Michigan. Our Regional Teachers of the Year provide valuable insights to the Michigan Department of Education and State Board of Education as we make decisions about education policy to help children achieve their life dream.”
Corey Rosser, a social studies teacher at North Branch Area Schools, was the 2025-26 Michigan Teacher of the Year.
