LANSING, MI — An Ingham County man who won $1 million playing the Michigan Lottery’s Millionaire Maker scratcher said he’ll pay off his home and buy a new truck with his winnings, according to Michigan Lottery officials.
The player bought his winning ticket at Louie’s Party Store, located at 1931 South Washington Avenue in Lansing. He recently visited Lottery headquarters in downtown Lansing to claim his prize. He chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000 rather than annuity payments for the full amount. With his winnings, he plans to pay off his home and buy a new truck.
“I buy lottery tickets often, but I only play the $50 games,” said the 55-year-old man, who chose to remain anonymous. “I bought a Millionaire Maker ticket, scratched the barcode, and scanned it at the store. When I got a message to file a claim, I went out to my car and scratched the rest of the ticket.
