LANSING, MI — The YMCA of Lansing as announced community leaders Kellie Deanand Marilyn Dean of Dean Transportation, along with Michigan State University’s Tom Izzo and Lupe Izzo, will serve as honorary chairs of The Legacy of Magic Gala, taking place Saturday, Aug. 22, from 5-8 p.m. at the Breslin Center in East Lansing.
The gala, hosted by the YMCA of Metropolitan Lansing, will honorEarvin “Magic” Johnson and the Johnson Family while celebrating Johnson’s extraordinary journey from his youthful start at the YMCA of Lansing to become one of the world’s most influential athletes, entrepreneurs and philanthropists, according to a press release.
The honorary chairs will help lead community engagement and support for an evening celebrating the Johnson Family’s lasting impact on Lansing and the YMCA of Lansing as the organization approaches its 150th anniversary of strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
“We couldn’t imagine a better group of leaders to help champion this celebration than Kellie and Marilyn Dean and Tom and Lupe Izzo — who represent the very best of our community and share the same spirit of generosity, service and leadership that has defined both the Johnson Family and the YMCA for generations,” said Casey Thompson, president and CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Lansing.
