LANSING, MI — The Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) will host its 16th annual Hometown Power 5K tomorrow, August 8, at 9:15 a.m. Starting point is BWL REO Town Headquarters, 1201 S. Washington Ave., Lansing.
Proceeds for the event will benefit BWL’s Pennies for Power, which helps support BWL customers in need pay their utility bills, according to a press release for the event.
This year’s race will again run through neighborhoods near the BWL REO Town Headquarters and along the river trail. Each finisher will receive a race t-shirt and a finisher’s medal. Medals will be awarded to the top three in each age group as well as for overall winners. There will also be a free kids’ fun run following the completion of the 5K.
According to the release, packet pick-up will be held today at the REO Town Depot from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., as well as from 7:30 a.m-8:45a.m. the morning of the race.
