OKEMOS, MI — The big screens at Studio C at Meridian Mall in Okemos will go dark later this fall. The theater operator has decided not to renew its lease with the mall.
The movie theater will close Oct. 4 after a final showing. It’s been in business 14 years, after being renamed from the Meridian Mall Outer 6.
“The economics of running a small scale theatre on leased property with higher fixed expenses are no longer viable, and we’ve been choosing to reinvest in the properties that we own,” the theater company’s owners said in a post on Facebook.
The theater was unique in that it offered dinner options for food along with traditional move theater offerings, like candy and popcorn.
