JACKSON, MI — The City of Jackson is inviting residents to celebrate the completion of a new playground at the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 10.
The ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. this Thursday at the MLK Center, 1107 Adrian St. in Jackson.
The new playground was funded through a grant from the State of Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Michigan Council of Community Foundations. The City of Jackson also worked closely with Monica Moser and the Jackson Community Foundation to help bring the project to life.
The upgrade includes a paved connection to the MLK Equality Trail, making it easier for the community to walk, bike, and stay active together. The new playground adds to ongoing efforts to improve parks and recreation spaces throughout Jackson and strengthen neighborhood amenities that support quality of life for residents.
