LANSING, MI — General Motors Co. said Tuesday it plans to invest $750 million to build hybrid three-row crossovers in Michigan, a move that would fill a major hole in its product portfolio.
Hybrid versions of large crossover SUVs, reported to include the Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave, and GMC Acadia, are in the eventual vehicle pipeline.
The automaker is seeking to catch up in an electrified vehicle segment that has enjoyed strong growth this year amid rising gas prices. The Delta Township plant employs thousands of blue colar workers from across mid-Michigan.
