LANSING, MI — Lansing City Clerk Chris Swope is predicting a turnout of around 15% of the city’s registered voters for next week’s special election to elect nine Lansing residents to review and possibly re-write the city’s charter, according to a report by media partner 6 News WLNS.
There are 36 candidates in total running for nine seats on the rechartering commission. There are two distinct slates of candidates running, according to the WLNS report. A slate backed by labor groups and the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce is made up of:

- Joan Bauer
- Muhammad Qawwee
- Elizabeth Driscoll Boyd
- Brian Jeffries
- Miranda Swartz
- Keith Williams
- Guillermo Lopez
Lansing Community Alliance is endorsing another slate of candidates. That slate is made up of the following candidates:
- Samuel Klahn
- Heath Lowry
- Randy Dykhuis
- Layna Anderson
- Jazmin Anderson
- Erica Lynn
- Ross Yednock
- Julie Vandeboom
- Jerry Norris
