OVID, MI — Nice weather has finally arrived, but for now there is a no swimming at the beach at Sleepy Hollow State Park near Ovid. The temporary swimming ban is due to an algae bloom, according to the Michigan Department Natural Resources.
According to a statement, the beach area was tested Tuesday when the algae was first noticed. An algal bloom may contain particles harmful to human health. Visit Michigan.gov/HABs for more information.
It’s not clear when the swim advisory might be lifted, according to the DNR, but treatment measures are being considered.
