DETROIT, MI — General Motors Co.’s profits are up as the Detroit automaker focuses on profitable trucks and stops the bleeding for now from money-losing electric vehicles.
The automaker earned $3.9 billion from April through June. The automaker’s profits increased by nearly $1 billion compared with the same period one year earlier.
GM also announced a quarterly cash dividend of 18 cents per share, payable Sept. 17 to shareholders of record at the close of trading Sept. 4.
“General Motors delivered another solid quarter of earnings, driven by the appeal of our product portfolio, the agility of our team, and disciplined execution,” Chair and CEO Mary Barra said in a letter to shareholders.
