LANSING, MI — The Eastside Lansing Food Co-op could shut its doors for good if sales don’t meet its September goal, according to a report from WLNS TV-6 in Lansing.
The community grocery store, which first opened in 2022, operates out of the Allen Neighborhood Center on Lansing’s Eastside.
According to the WLNS report, co-op board member Emily Tyler says the store has actually been operating a deficit for the past year and a half due to a lack of daily sales.
“We need to be able to cover the very baseline things that we need to do in order to survive. And we can’t get better if we can’t survive. So we need to make, on average, $1,200 a day in sales for the month of September,” says Tyler.
The business is open Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Open Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
